Its been Busy down at Dizzy Dairy

Sheep Cheese Production going well.  Its that time of year the milk sheep need sheering. This is for their own welfare. Cost more to sheer them then the wool is worth but if it stops the old fly strike and makes them more comfortable its a worthwhile expense. We made a start on sheering our commercial flock.

This sheep had already been to the barbers. She didnt get the memo that the hairdresser was on the way!!

and After .......

the girls protested a bit today and gave a little less milk but they wherent in the field eating grass so not a surprise.

Other news we need more sheep. We are struggling to get milking sheep. We cant go to france to export milking sheep as defra has a ban on importing sheep at present.

We have decided to get some Dorset Sheep and cross with a milking ram. Dorsets will lamb all year round so when crossed should be ok to milk.

The weened lamb all seem happy and the milking twice a day is going to plan so all good.
